History

According to the "Kanthapuranam" the giant Eraniakshan was troubling the gods and ascetics. One day, he swallowed the globe (the earth) and went to the underworld and hid himself. Lord Vishnu metamorphosed himself into a single horned Pig went to the underworld, killed the giant and made the earth stand and function as it was.

The pig was proud of its victory and started troubling the people of the world forgetting the fact that it was a Pig. It jumped into the sea and disturbed it. Lord Siva came to know about all these. So, he broke the hors of the pig and wore it in his neck.

When Lord Siva touched the Pig, it realized its old position and got its own form. Like the new moon, it was decorating the chest of Lord Siva. This incident took place in this place and, thus, the place is called Thruppanticode. The place is located in Palliyadi.

In the 17th century AD, Mugilan conquered this place and stole the Valuables from the Mahadevar temple at Thiruppanticode. Near Thiruvattar, wasps attacked him and killed him. The villagers say that the first wasp started from Thiruppanticode to attack him. This temple is constructed after the fashion of Kerala architecture with a two storied Plane.
